“LAZIEST MAN ON EARTH.'
Arthur Chiloott (thirty-eight), described as a laborer, who has com© to be known as “the laziest man on earth,” appeared at the Kingston (JEng.) Police Court the other day, charged with refusing to perform his allotted task whilst a casual inmate of the Kingston Workhouse. Chiloott walked with weary steps to the court, and whilst waiting for has case to be called seemed to be overpowered with a feeling of ennui. The assistant-superintendent at the casual ward said the accused was given the usual scwt of stone to break, but he refused to work, demanding to see the doctor, who certified him to be quite fit. Prisoner redined against the rails of the dock in a listless attitude, and when the clerk asked if he had any questions to put to the witness he paused for seme time before, with an effort, he answered "No.” He appeared actually to fall asleep when an officer reported a number of previous convictions against him, and when the mayor announced he would have to go to prison for three .months as a rogue and vagabond he took it as a matter of course, and lazily dragged iris way out of the court and back to-the police station.
