ANNUAL MEETING. The twenty-third annual general meeting of the Dunedin Amateur Athletic Club was held in the Chamber of Commerce last night, the president, Mr W. Maclean, occupying'the chair. There was a fair attendance. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet (already published), said that the outstanding feature was the splendid state of the club’s finances. The club had been formed in 1885, and had continued with varying success. In 1903 they had a small debit balance, but they had made good progress, and now they had to their credit the sum of £BS ls4d. They had, in fact, constituted a record for any amateur athletic body in the Dominion. He was proud of his position as president of such a club. They had run evening meetings for the past seven years, and last year was the first one in which that series of meetings ‘had resulted in any profit. This showed that they were undoubtedly increasing In popularity. They were greatly indebted to the Dunedin Cricket Club, who had gone to a deal of inconvenience in postponing their practices while these evening meetings were being held. Their annual sports meeting, which was fully dealt with in the report, had been a success, notwithstanding the fact that the weather had not been encouraging. The New Zealand amateur championship meeting would probably bo held in Dunedin this year, and, he thought, would be a good thing for the dub. It would infuse enthusiasm into amateur athletes. Mention was made of the good work done by Mr W. M ‘Donald in his position as handicapper. Mr S. Jacobs seconded the motion, and congratulated the club on their financial success. The success was, ho thought, due to the wav in which the Committee and the office-bearers and members had worked together. The motion was carried unanimously. Mr V. S. Jacobs moved—“ That honorary members be admitted to the club, the subscription to be ss, honorary members not to have the power of voting or to be able to compete at anv sports meeting,” and, in so doing, explained that the rules provided that the subscription for an honorary member should be £1 Is, which, he thought, was too much. The Committee had taken upon themselves to take some members at 5s in the meantime. Mr A. Burke seconded the motion, which was carried. The matter of appointing canvassers for such members was left to tho Committee. Mr J. T. Hamann moved—“ That the Committee consist of eight members, instead of seven, as at present.” He said that a large amount of work was alwavs to be done, and the addition of one member would be most helpful, especially at the time of sports meetings. Mr H, Burk seconded, the motion being carried. The election of office-bearers resulted * —President, Mr W. Maclean (re-elected) • vice-presidents—Messrs S, Jacobs, A! Dey, P. .S. K. Macasscy, V. S.
