ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS.
DROWNED IN A CREEK. The youngest child of Mr C. K. Smith, of Dannevirke/ aged about three years, wandered to a creek near the house yesterday, and was drowned. A FISHERMAN'S DEATH. The body of a fisherman named Sylvester MDes Cotter was brought to the Bluff yesterday by the island cutter from Ruapuko. A P.A. message states that at tho inquest to-day a verdict of found drowned returned. The deceased, who met with his death on Tuesday night, was a native of New South Wales. STRICKEN IN THE STREET. Mrs Cox, who is married, and was living in the Glen road, Mornington, with her husband, dropped down near the Town Belt last evening. She was taken to the hospital in an unconscious state, which was still unbroken this afternoon. She is suffering from paralysis caused by hemorrhage on the brain. KNOCKED DOWN BY AN ENGINE. An Auckland P.A. message states that Robert H. Hanson, fifty years of age, employed as a railway crossing keeper at the Auckland railway station, was knocked down by an engine which was about to be coupled to a train that he was attending to. Hanson sustained serious injuries, including the fracture of both legs.
