FIRE BOARDS.

DEPUTATION TO DR FINDLAY. [Pee United Peess Association.] WELLINGTON, May 29. Representatives of the various fire boards in the Dominion waited on the AttorneyGoneral, and urged tho necessity of amending the Fire Brigades Act of last session. The chief amendment urged was in tho direction of giving boards power to raise money for the erection of buildings or tho acquisition of property. In reply, Dr Findlay said that he believed in giving fire boards as much power as other local bodies for carrying out what was an important public service. He promised to bring the deputation's representations before Cabinet.
