ASSASSINATION OF MR MONCRIEFF. A DERVISH ATTACK,. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. CAIRO, May 4. A fanatic, claiming to be Sayyidna Isa, and 150 dervishes murdered Mr Moncrieff, Deputy Inspector of the Blue Nile region, and also the commandant of the Egyptian police. Mr Dickinson, Governor of the Blue Nile province, started for the scene on hearing the news. On the way part of his force was attacked, but the dervishes were repulsed, leaving thirty-five dead behind them. Two native officers were killed, Major Logan and a native officer were severely wounded, and the Governor (Mr Dickinson) was himself slightly wounded.
