DUNEDIN PRESBYTERY.

The Dunedin Presbytery' held their monthly meeting this morning, with the Rev. 11. B. Gray (Moderator) presiding. 1 —The Modoratorship.— ■ Before the appointment of a moderator for the next six months, the Presbytery discussed the motion of which notice had been given by the Rev. W. Hewitson, to the effect that the Presbytery appoint their Moderator instead of the office going by rotation as at present; and, further, that the term of office be twelve instead of six months.—ln the absence of Mr Hewitson, the Rev. A. Campbell brought forward the motion, and it was negatived. The Rev'. J. Aitken (of Mosgiel) was ap pointed moderator for the ensuing six monlhs; —Church Extension.— It was resolved that', a meeting of the Presbytery and office-bearers be held on May 26 to consider the question of church extension. The committee appointed to make ’arrangements"' were the Revs. Dr Xishet, R. Waddell, W. Hewitson, H. B. Grey, I. K. MTutyre, J. Chisholm (con voncr), and A. M. Finlayson. The Rev. J. Kilpatrick advised that the subcommittee appointed by the Presbytery in connection with the church extension, after carefully considering the whole mattor. had agreed that a site at Musselburgh, already owned by the church and available at once for the election of a building, should bo used for that purpose. The site was the one which had been presented to the Presbytery by Air G. Gray Russell. It would allow of the building on it of n church and Sunday school, and ho thought the South Dunedin congregation should b? asked to undertake the work.—Adopted. On the motion of the Rev. J. Kilpatrick it. was decided to procure sites at Opoho, Gladstone, and Normauby, with a view to starting Sabbath schools and services as soon ns possible, and it was further resolved that the Executive of the Church Extension Committee, along with the Rev. A. Cameron, be empowered to purchase the site at Gladstone and select and purchase sites at Norma,nby and Opoho. By 16 to 4 the districts of Opoho, Gladstone, and Pine Hill were erected into a mission charge. The Rev. I. K. Al‘lntyre gave notice that he would appeal to the Assembly against the decision arrived at, —lnduction of Minister.— The Rev. A. W. Kinmont intimated that the Rev. ,T. Lymbuni had accepted a call to the North Taiori charge, and it was decided that the induction lake place on the 15th. The Rev. Mr Gray was appointed to preside, the Rev. Dr Nisbet to address the minister, and the Rev. Air Mac Donald to address the congregation. —Application.— The application of Air Hector ATLean, M.A., for a Presbytery certificate to enter the Theological College was agreed to. —The Rev. R. Alackie.— The following minute was recorded: “ The Presbytery desire to place on record their appreciation of the faithful service rendered to the Church by Air Mackie during the six and a-half years of bis ministry in South Dunedin. By his fidelity to duty, his purity of character, and his unfailing kindness in all. he has commended himself not only to the members of his congregation but to every member of the Presbytery. It is with deep regret that we part with Afr Alackie. In doing so we commend him and his family to the grace of God, and pray that the blessing of God may be upon him and his in all the days to come.”
