THE NEW ZEALAND TEAM.

(Received April 14, at 9.20 a.m.) • The Rugby League tendered the New Zealand footballers a reception in the Town HalL Wright, the captain, in replying for the visitors, said they had learned many lessons on the tour. One was that the old amateur Rugby game was not the only game in the world. He .felt sure that the public would flock to see the new League game. He did not think there was a. player in England who could kick goals like Messenger. O.R.F.U. The weekly meeting of the OJI.F.U. Committee was held last evening, Mr F. 11. Campbell presiding. The secretary of the Schools Football Association wrote stating that at a meeting of school teachers the following recommendations were made :—That the OIR.F.U. be. asked to provide gold medals for the winner of the school championship, and a silver medal for the runner-up, and to present each member of the school representative team with a representative cap.—lt was decided to grant silver medals to the members of the winning schools championship team, and to present the members of the representative team with caps. A request that cards bo provided for sending in results of school matches was granted. The New Zealand Rugby Union intimated that they had complied with the request to approach the New Zealand Football Association for removal of the disqualifications imposed upon members of the Green Island Association Club last season. A letter was received from the same liody stating that it had been decided that the cost of the erection of seats at Carisbrook would be a charge against the British team's matches at Dunedin.— The erection of the seats was left to the Works Committee. The University Club intimated that their First Fifteen would this yean- be in a position to begin flag matches on the 25th Last. It wa.s decided to ask the New Zealand Union for favorable consideration of an application from the North Otego Subunion that Oa.ma.ru be placed on the programme of British matches. Messrs If. Harris, V. Cavanagh, and •T. King were appointed the Selection Committee for Ota.go interprovincial matches. Others nominated were Messrs J. Duncan. A. M'Donald, and P. J. Priest. OTAGO FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION. Mr H. .T. Duncan presided over the weekly meeting of the O.F.A. last night. The secretary of the N.Z.F.A. wrote stating that, in connection with the Brown Shield Competition, the arrangement last year was that the. N.Z.F.A. took 5 per cent, of the cjross, and the Auckland F.A. 5 per cent, of the net, receipts, the balance of the profits (if any) being divided between the visiting a-ssociations pro rat-Ji to expenses. Outside of ground charges and expenses, the expanses were curtailed to about £lO per day. Consideration deferred pending inquiry re ground arrangements.—The secretary of the N.Z.F.A. wrote also asking that a second delegate bo appointed. Mr R. F. Mackay re-elected.-—A letter from the secretary of the N.Z.F.A. intimated that it was proposed to send a team Home, and asked for an opinion upon the subject-. It was unanimously resolved to reply that the O.F.A. considered it inadvisable at the present time to send a representative team Home, but favored a proposal to bring out a team of Home players.—Permission was granted to the following players to travel to Timaru at Easter : —Harrison, Shepherd, Aitchison. Rattley. Barrington, Dow, Bankier, Baillie. Ussher, M'Clel-la-id. Mr F. Ussher was appointed manager.— In reference to the proposed team to play against Kaitangata at Faster, it was intimated that seven Southern players and possibly three Wakari players, forming a mixed senior and junior eleven, could make the trip to play on Friday. Resolved—That a team be sent to play on Friday, Mr Lambie to be manager. The Town Clerk advised that the Association's application for the use of reserves would be considered when the sum of £3 wa-s deposited in respect of each ground. It would be necessary for the applicants to call a.nd mark off on the official plan the areas desired. Resolved—That a deputation wait upon the Mayor to discuss the question.—The Grounds Committee reported upon proposed improvements to Corinthian Park, offers to do the work being submitted. Deferred for further prices to be obtained.—The secretary was instructed to advise clubs that entries and names must be in hand by 5 p.m. on Tuesday. April 21.
