Our correspondent writes : The late rise in the river virtually closed down every dredge working in the Gorge, but as frost has set in the last few days the river is subsiding fast, and the Electrics, a; any rate, should resume dredging thic week. On the Clutha the two Shines, Risin" Son, and Font cLredges were the only gold-winners last week. The drift was very troublesome, and affected the returns of the Rising Sun and Shine No. 2. Shine No. 1 is clear of any drift, so is the Punt. The ground the former worked has got very deep, and the Punt's return was a decided improvement on those won lately.
