LONDON, August 3. Tho police at Anfcbenry (Ireland) met and ventilated tfoeir claims, despite the district inspector'g prohibition, coupled with a promise to consider their grievance. Four hundred of the most active demonstrators at Belfast have been transferred to the wildest country districts. The coalmen's dispute has been settled on tho basis of increased pay. The coal dealers insisted that the employers were entitled to engage whom they "liked without trade union dictation.

Tho railway and steamship companies tako the same stand in connection with tie dockers' and carters' strike.

The Shipping Federation have complained to Mr Bimell (Chief Secretary for Ireland) that since the resources of the Government at Belfast are unequal to tho task of protecting men engaged In lawful work, the Federation will be compelled to provide tlieir own force.

Mr Birrell declined to receive a deputation from tho Federation, declaring that the local authorities were able to deal with the situation.
