ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS.
CHIEF STEWARD KILLED. A fatal accident occurred while the Union Company's Aparima was taking in stores at Chelsea on Saturday afternoon. It is stated that the chief steward, Henry Hawkey, was helping a lumper to take in a sing containin. r stores, when the s'.ing swung round and knocked him 0:1 to a lighter alongside., a distance of 30't. Before he was plai-ed aboard the Ap-arima he expired. Hawkey bad a wife and two children in We Hngt-on. He came to Auckland for relief ivrak on the Aparima.
