California upheld the Wlfilamsburg City Fire Insurance Company’s contention that they are not liable for losses attributable to, the earthquake <rf April 18 last. [On November 7, at an extraordinary meeting of the State Fire Insurance Company at Liverpool, a resolution proposing to reduce the ten-pound shares to eight pounds by cancelling the paid-up capital to the extent of two pounds per share upon each of the 70,000 shares issued was carried, with four dissentients. The chairman mentioned that the San Francisco-disas-ter had involved the company in a disbursement of £220,000.
