FIRES.
About a quarter to nine o'clock IbtS morning a fee was discovered in a house ut Rankeilor street. South Dunedin, occupied by Mr H. A. Bolstad. The fee originated in a cupboard adjacent to one of UK fireplaces, but the South Dunedin Fire Bli-. gade turned out with commendable promptitude, and prevented the flames spreading. About £lO will cover the damage. PALMERSTON NORTH, January 8..
An eight-roomed house in tho mam street, owned by William Wild and occupied by Mrs Halsall, was destroyed by firs at three o’clock this morning. The occupant saved nothing. The furniture was insured for £IOO in the Alliance, and tin house for £250.
