On Thursday afterroon- prizes were dis tributed to the pupils, attending the Poxtobello School, in tho presence of a lorgt, number of tbo parents and friends of the pupils. Mr D. D. Seaton presided, and appropriately opened the proceedings. Be fore the distribution a number of lions and songs were given* by the children. Tho chairman then asked tlie Rev A. 'The dux prize was given by Mr D. D. Seatou, and the special prize far reading and recitation by Mr It. Fergus. Votes of thanks to the Committee, the teachets, mid the examiners •were carried by acclamation.
