These coastal shipments arrived at satisfactory temperatures. The cheese, principally from the Wairarapa, is fairly uniform in make, and the appearance of all of it was excellent. While the cheese has been in store a number of factory managers from the Wairarapa visited Wellington to see their consignments graded. ALWAYS IN FRONT. Tt is announced that the splendid Arawa, now completing at Homo for the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company-, will make her first trip to the colony' from Liverpool, leaving that port on February--16. Her ports at this end will bo Auckland. Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. When the same company brought cat the Mamari it was generally felt that they had produced the best cargo steamer in these waters. Now thev have gone one better. The New Zealand Shipping Company have also been moving. What with their new Orari and Opawa and the general installation of the invincible Clayton fire-extinguisher, thev are also well to the front. It- is gratifying to notice how these old-established companies, which first opened up the Home trade, still beatill other comers in the matter of well-ap-pointed ships. SHAW.
