FIRES ON WOOL SHIPS.
Common, Shelton, and Co., Gisborne, have received the following on tires on woo] ships from their London agents:—■" We took tho matter up with well-known chemist for the Royal Agricultural Society (Dr V. A. Volcker), and submitted two samples of damaged wool and one of undamaged. Both damaged lota had been treated with lime. Dr Volckor says he believes the whole trouble is due to tho treatment wools undergo with limo, the process being turned out too quickly, and not thoroughly dry.”
