Dr jiell, Government Geologist, after a general examination of the district, says that excellent indications of high-quality oil are to be found, but before he could definitely advise as to the actual locality at which boring operations should commence he would require a detailed survev to be made of districts within a radius of twenty miles where indications exist Dr Bell thinks that it is for want of such survey that oil-boring has been unsuccessful in the past. The wells appear to have been put down in a haphazard way. The Gisboroe Oil Company will make representations to the Government in order .to have a detailed survey made.
