MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
There was a fair attendance at the Hops of Dunedin Lodge on Friday night. Bro. Qiim, C.T., presided. An invitation to a special night was accepted from the Rescue Lodge. Bro. M'Keown reported that Bro. Drew, who has undergone a serious operation at the hospital, is now progressing favorably. After a short recess the item of the evening, a Dutch auction, was proceeded with, Bro. Clarkson being elected auctioneer. The usual vote of thanks to the visitors was responded to by Bco. Morrison (Lily of the Valley), Bro. Wilson (Hope of Cavcrsham), and Bro. Helson (Pioneer of Wellington). There was a bumper house at the Rosen© Lodge, 1.0. G.T., weekly meeting last evening. The Affiance and Hope of Dunedin Lodges visited officially, besides a good sprinkling of members from the other sistej lodges. C.T. Bro. Cook presided. Tt* lodge passed a vote of sympathy and con* doience with the Rev. R. Mackie on th« death of his daughter. It was decided ta visit the Hope of Dunedin Lodge officially this week, and-debate with them, the subject 'Which Causes the Most Misery, Drink or Gambling? Harmony followed. Responses tolho vote of thanks were mad« on behalf of the Hope of Dunedin, Alliance, Pioneer, and Ark of Love Lodges.
