THE HARBOR BOARD APPOINTMENT.
TO TUE EDITOR. . Sir,—Wove i\. noi tor the :act that you have insidiously reflected on my respexied friend the Hon. >T. A. Millar, I could well afford to ignore the* personal references you have made concerning ray appointment to the Harbor Board. \ou have endeavored to make it appear that too Hon. Mr Millar is.solely reBPons'bk for my appearance on the Board, but the tetter conveying my appointment shows that, the Cabinet must have had something to do with it, as is comes through His BxceOerncv the Governor. Whether the Hon Mr Millar was or was not, responsible for my appointment hardly justifies you in questioning his actions, and you certainly take an unwarrantable liberty in writing of ms as you did. It is a piece of downright presumption to characterise myself beiim “nu"nacious and ” truculent, ■’ and practically unfitted to occupy a public position. You appcar to think that you are the judge jury and executioner of any public man you dislike or choose to disagree with-. But I give you f«jr warning that you’ll get a Boland for your Oliver al any time you attempt to F.canfy me the same as you have done to others. I am prepared to bo judged and cnticued on my public actions, hut resent being prejudged and figuratively hung before I have committed myself.—l am : etc.. . , W. Belcher. August 20.
