MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.

The • fortnightly meeting of Court Excelsion, A.0.F., held in the Council Chambers, Mornington, was presided over by C.R. Bro. T. Wilson. P.C.R. Bro. W. Mearns gave a report of the quarterly meeting of the Friendly Societies' Dispensary. It was decided to pay an official visit to Court Pride of Dunedin on the occasion of their forty-fourth anniversary. P.C.R. Bro. A. J. Morrison (senior auditor) presented the half-yearly balance-sheet and auditors' report, which showed the court to be in a very sound financial position. It was decided to name the juvenile branch "Excelsior's Pride," the . Committee to make arrangements for its opening as soon as possible. The visitors' toast was responded v to by Bto. Donald Thomson, of Court Breadalbane, Aberfylde, Scotland, and P.D.C.R. Bro. G. Morgan, of Court Pride of Dunedin. P.C.R Bro. Geo. Wallace won the trophy presented to the member introducing the most candidates for initiation for the past twelve months. At the weekly meeting of the Hope of Dunedin Lodge, 1.0-G.T. (Bro. Carr, C.T., presiding), the following members were installed in their respective offices; —Bro. Quin, GT. ; Sis. Strang, V.T.,; Sis. Clarkson, secretary; Bro. Sheridan, assistant secretary; Sis. B. Walker, financial secretary; Sis. Carr, treasurer; Sis. Kennedy, chaplain; Bro. Sandilands, marshal; Sis. McLean, deputy marshal; Sis. Smyth, guard; Bro. Anderson, sentinel; Bro. Carr, P.O.T. A special vote of thanks was rendered to the retiring marshal, Bro. M'Kearm. The rate of thanks to the visitors was responded to by Bro. Brock (Lily of the Valley) and Bro. Kirkwood (Alliance).
