SHOOTING.

A match was fired at Pelichet Ray on Saturday between teams representing the Maniototo Mounted Rifles and the Caversham Rifles. The weather conditions were very unfavorable for shooting, a very tricky wind and changeable light prevailing. " After a keenly-contested competition victory rested with the L'aversham team by 42 points. After the match the visitors were entertained at tea at the Leviathan, and in the evening at the exhibition of pictures at His Majesty's Theatre. Ik l fore dispersing, Captain Trotter, on behalf of the Maniototo team, thanked the Caversham Rifles for the manner in which tiiey had treated their visitors, and expressed the wish that his company would soon have an opportunity of returning the compliment. Captain Bremner responded on behalf of the Caversham Rifles. Tho conditions of tho shooting were: Eleven mi n a sile (lowest counted out), seven shots and optional si'ghter at 500 and 500 yards.
