Blakiston, of Darlington (England), made a suggestion on Empire Day that fraternisation with the colonies might be.-aided, by interchange of visi's by school boys, and the communication being sent to Lord Meath. who ia taking a leading position in connection with the Empire movement, his Lordship in a letter warmly commended the idea that the boys in Gteat Britain should in groups visit the colonies, that there should be return visits, and that boys should be encouraged.to make friends an •'< correspond with their 'e low boys over th< 8-88. The age of the boys to be from thirteen to fouifceea years. Each boy to

be in robust health and to pass a medical examination. Each to be .up to the standard height of the average of British boys of equal »ge, and each boy to be able to piay foo-.ball, cricket, and to do physical drill. No boy to be accepted without the full approval of his parents ' lliach tOpass an examination iu history, geography, and the 'commercial products of the" Respective colonies. There shall be four teachers, each with thirty boys under bis teaching and c-ire. The age of the teachers to be from thirty to thirty-five years. The teachers to be in robust health, fond of physical exercise, aud to pass a medical examination. The teacher to be se*luoei by the Education Departrhents of the OoUnty Couucils. The boys' education to be continued bu board the ship, Ttie chief eleiueutary school and training colleges in.the respective colonies to be visited by the boys with their teachers.
