BAD GAS.
10 THE EDITOR. Sir,—So Cr Walker has awoke afc last, and favors you with the merest semblance of an attempt at reply to your charges, dr Walker talks loudly about the 186 gas engines in operation in this City, and states that out of that large number only two or three complaints have reached the department. That is quite likely, but let me inform Cr Walker that I know at least ten other gas-engine proprietors who are so disgusted with the quality, etc, of the gas generally supplied that they are anxiously awaiting the advent of the'Waipori scheme, and I have their u.-surance that they will be quite willing to negotiate with the chairman of the Has Committee for the purchase of their engines, etc., at a. greatly-reduced price. Cr Walker maintains a peculiar silence regarding the unfortunate householder who has been indiscreet enough to discard the primitive lamp for our Corporation gas. Their complaints are heard on all sides, and if I mistake not the chairman of the Gas Committee has heard them too, especially during this last ■week No doubt a great number of householders are also awaiting the completion of the Waipori scheme.—l am, etc., SEABCHLrCHT. Jury 23.
