FETLDING, July 24. A disastrous broke out at Rongotea last night in the premises of Mr Sutton, ironmonger and furnisher, resulting in the destruction, of four shops and two dwellings. There was no water supply, but a bucket brigade, aided by blankets, prevented a further spread of th« fire. JJr Sutrtoh. estimates Las loss at £7OO above insurance—viz., £285 on the building and 1 £570 on the etock, both in the Now Zealand Office. Mr Glover's building, which was ab» destroyed;, was insured for £los in the same office.
