MAGNETIC HEALING.

What is known as “magnetic healing” is becoming daily more widely practised throughout tho world. It has long been recognised that many people blessed with healthy organisms have the power of transferring (by the simple process of “laying oa of hands”) some of their own vitality to those deficient or more or less diseased or physically deranged. Of course, any change or innovation in. our recognised methods of treating disease are usually looked upon with doubt and scepticism, and hence tue long life that.the drag-treatment hat enjoyed. Still, it is ever becoming more obvious to thinking men that, like the old system of bleeding and blistering, the reliance wo still plane upon the efficacy of drugs is largely unjustifiable. No doubt medicinal herbs and drugs have their uses, but there are many disordered conditions of the body-—and even of the mind—that these fail to alleviate, and it is in theoa cases, particularly where tho nervous system is at fault, or in cases of congestion, that magnetic treatment is found most efficacious. This mode of dealing whh diseased conditions is not within the sphere of regular medical practitioners, and so they naturally look upon it with no favorable eye. However, that fact docs not in any way detract from its value as a curative agency, since ft is not to be supposed that what we know as the orthodox phaimacopaa is necessarily the last word in medical science. There has existed in London for the past five years what is called the PsychoTherapeutic Society, consisting of thirteen magnetic healers, who receive no fees for their services, all payments mad© by those in a position to do so going to the funds of the society. Free treatment is given to all who need it The president of- the society is Mr George Spriggs, who is said to have treated no fees than 460 cases. In the last nine mouths 1,846 free treatments were given, and 141 patients attended to. Of tlie thirteen operators six aro ladies, and two of them (Lady Ooomara and Lady Tyler) are titled ones.
