In spite of the prohibition of opium, con6iderable quantities of the drug continue to find their way into the Commonwealth, notwithstanding the vigilance of the Customs officials. Suspecting that it came by way of Canada, tho officials kept a sharp lookout, and to-day they were rewarded by the seizure of 900 tins, valued tt £1,500, aboard the Miowera. The opium was discovered after the cargo had been discharged, stowed away under some loose boarding.
