LONDON, July 19.
The Governor of Natal (Sit H. E. M'Odlum) has informed Mr Winston Cbrnrchill jhat approximately 3,500 rebels were killed and 2,000 wounded or taken prisoners during the rebellion.
THE HUT TAX
CAPE TOWN, July 19,
Lord Selborne (High Commissioner for South Afrca) has decided that natives who are working for three months each year-shall pay £1 as a hut tax, instead of £2 as formerly.
