The usual meeting of Pioneer Lodge, 1.0. G.T., was held on Tuesday in the Lower Choral Hall, Bro. D. Gain, C.T., presiding. There, was a very good attendance of members and visitors. The G.T. reported having visited the Ark of Love Lodge officially" and being cordially received. A vote of sympathy with Bro. lies was passed, and a. hearty welcome given to Bro.- Helm, of the Wellington Pioheer Lodge. After the usual recess, the . " Brothers', Singing ..Competition," jpen to all brothers of the Order, was jommenced. Considerable interest has been taken, in this event for some time ..past, but unfortunately the prevailing jpidemic of colds prevented many from .aking part. The following competed : Bros. Comissiong, Gain, Rae, Sandilar.ds, ~ind. Wills, Sisters Dalton and Osten acting as accompanists. The. professional gentleman who was to have been .. judge not being able to be present, it was decided that \ the sisters should be a committee, and after a brief consultation they announced their. unanimous decision' in favor of Bro. Wills.- A protest against the winner
on the ground that the audience had", assisted him in the chorus was disallowed. The prize is to be handed over next week. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded to the judges, accompanists, and visitors.
