EDUCATION BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Otago Falutati'dn Board commenced this afternoon ; present—Mr Donald Borne fchairman), Mr A M'Kfenbtt-, Mr \V. Nioolson. Mr J. Mitchell, the Sort. T. Fergus, ;i.rid Mr T. Mackenzie; M.S. 11. Claims for half-cosh of improvements wero allowed as under : Kaihticu, fencing, asphaltrngj eta, £6; Forbury, painting, etc.. inside school, £25; Moflgfel. improvements to grounds, £6; Musselburgh, phaltihg, levelling, etc., £25: Otepopo. asphalting, £lO 10s; Strath. Taieri, painting, etc., inside school, £7: Tokarahi, gravelling, levelling.,, etc.,'' £3 10s; Glenomam, fencing,, etc., £1 Is. The Bolchitha Committee asked for a subsidy towards establishing a library at the school.—The Board expressed regret that they had no funds at their disposal for such a purpose. The Mosgiel Coittiriitteo sent .in explanation as to £4 expendihtre being incurred in anticipation of the sanction of tie Board.— The explanation was accepted. The Lawrence Gonnnittee renewed tlieir application lot" full coat of repairing tho Leacher's residence. —Declined. A report was made by the. architect as b repairs to the Blackston© Hill, Fairfax. Lower Sarbor, Ravensbourne, and. Stony Creek buildings, a3 to the removal of the Owafea acfaool, as to additions and repairs to the Portobello residence, and as to the outbuildings at Waianakama.-—-Authority •was given, to carry out these -works. Mr J. Baylcy applied to lease section 18, block 5, Waihemo.—Declined. Mr Peter Bowio v ished to lease sehbbl grounds at Hukinga. —Bedmed. Applications from Oarnaru South for two additional chininevs in the residence, from Forbury for additional infant iooni, arid from Macandxew road for a bathroom, in the residence were declined. North-east Valley renewed the application for eheuter sheds and new ontbuildiugs. •—Previous decision adhered to.
The Board approved of Colonel Ix>veday's proposal as to the issuing of circulars, etc.. to head-masters in connection with the holding of a cadet camp in Christchurch uljoimng the EshibitdorL The Board then went into committee.
