EXCESSIVE INSURANCE RATES. [SPECIAL TO TOT STA*.] CHRIsfcluRCHi July 13. The Chief Exhibition Commissioner states, with reference to the proposed fire insurance rates on the Exhibition, that they are apparently three times the charge made oh the Wooden portion of the Canterbury Jubilee Exhibition; where there was practically /very little protection agairiit fire. Intending exhibitors are protesting against the imposition of sncH high rites, which will prove" a verv heavy tax ofl their more valuable exhibits, inquiries are being made by exhibitors outside the Cdlony; arid there is every probability that they will effect insurance themselves at lower rates than cart be Obtained here. This action of the Ibcal companies is likely to seriously prejudice the exhibitors, and the Government will have to take the matter up in the interests of the Exhibition. AUCKLAND* Julv 18.
