LONDON PRODUCE NOTES.

Out London correspondent, writing on June 9, supplies the following:— New Zealand Hemp.—The market has been quiet, with a limited business passing, hut towards the dose there has been a good demand at prices which mark an advance of 25s to 50s per ton. Current : Good, fair "spot," £32 13s; July-August, £32 15s; October-December, £32 5s to £32 15? per ton. c.i.f. • frit "spot," £3l to £3l ss ; May-July. £3l ; August-October, £3l per ton, c.i.f. ; fair current Manila, May-June, £43 10s. Tow.—-Fair demand, at £ll to £ll 10s per ton, c.i.f. Cocksfoot.—As is customary for some little time after the close of the season, the market has be?n quiet, and few transactions have taken place. Recent advicee point to there being a large crop in New Zealand, Mid many buyers prefer to await developments before operating. Butter.—The regular season for colonial butter is practically over, but a few m.ore shipments may be erpected to arrive. The market has been firm for ofaoioest descriptions, which go readily into consumption, but uodergrades meet little inquiry. Latest quotations: Australian choicest, 96s to 98* • 52? 1 : 9^- to 925; New Zeal *Dd choicest! 100s to 106s (occasionally 104 a); finest 94s to 98s; New Zealand dairy and milled! 80e to 90s. '

Gram.—The market for wheat is quiet asad prices nrle in buyers' favor. Operators maintain a very reserved attitude in face of Moral shipments from Russia and the Argenfcne, whilst the large number of «argoes arriving « o ff coast" serves to accentuate the position. A fair amount of business has been transacted in AustraKan for arrival at prices which mark a decline 480 b ( C ~f.) net and net cash has been accepted for a. large cargo of Victoria per itmemoa, whilst 29s 9d per 4801b (c.i.f.) net has been paid for a New South Wales cargo. The tone of the market for oate is qmet, and prices are rather easier for common qualities, but fine eorre are in good demand alt fall rates. Tallow.—There have been only two public suctions ance my last report, no sales having been held this week owing to the incidence of the Whitsuntide holidavs. Finest mutton and beef are neglected, 'and quotalions for these are unchanged, but there is a good demand for other descriptions at 3d i* 6d advance. Current quotations : Finest mutton (nominal), 3ls 6d to 32s 6d; fair 'i' B****' 8 ****' 30s 3d to 31s 3d; and dark to dull, 27s to 28s 3d ; edible beef, 29s 6d to • ; ,*^L to K°° d ' 6d to 29s 3d ; jrood mxed, 28s 9d to 29s 3d; very dark to dull 24s to 28s per cwt. ' Frozen Meat.—While at the lower values idling more inquiry has been manifested for New Zealand mutton, the demand is dill far from brink, and prices are weaker to the extent of -£d per lb Heavy car-i-asses, 64-801b, are very unsaleable at the nioment, and are not worth more than 3d to 3|d per ib. Australian is in extremely short supply, and with a fair demand last quotations have been maintained, but the demand for River Plate has been tlow and prices are slightly easier. Arrivals of laml -■■ since last report total over 300,000 carcases. A further improvement has taken piace in the demand, supplies now gomg freely into consumption, and with a change to wanner weather this week prices for best descriptions are id to Id per stone firmer. Very few Australian are now being offered, the best making up to 4id per lb and secondary 3|d to 3|d per lb. River Plate chilled and frozen beef ha 3 been in fair snpplv, and this week, with a good demand for'hindquarters, prices have advanced £d per lb, fcreqnartera being unchanged. Arrivals of New Zealand amount to over 10,000 quatlers. Trade has been aiow, but in sympathy with the higher prices ruling for "the River Plate article, New Zealand hindquarters have realised more money during the last few days.
