Lieutenant J. Mackenzie, the bandmaster of the Coldstream Guards, announced his decision on May 18 in the recent military band contest in Dublin, at which he acted as adjudicator at the reqnest of Lord Grenfeil. The best military band now in Ireland proved to be that of the Ist Royal Irish Ftmleera, of which Mr John Dnnn is bandmaster. Posing as a reserve player, and carrying a hockey stick and bag, a man entered the hotel where two teams playing in Bushey Park had dressed. He was allowed to enter their room, and succeeded in carrying off £2OO worth of jewellery and money belonging to tibe players.
