A PRESIDENT'S POFM.
M. Falliarres, the new President of the French Republic, is the author of a poem on the virtues of the vine, inspired by hia love for his own vineyard in the South of France. Roughly translated, it runs;— There is no leaf so ch.armiugly pretty, No leaf more graceful in line Than the leaf of the wonderful vine. No flower of more exquisite color, ; No flower more perfectly scented Than the flower of the perfumed vino. Reddest of all red nectars Is distilled by the laughing sunshine From the fruit of the comforting vine, ' And when it comes to the burning, No wood eo merrily crackles As the wood of the poor old vine.
