To prove that unemployed workmen could not earn a living wage at the work of levelling cliffs provided by the Blackpool (Eng.) Corporation, Mr Arthur Laycock, Socialist, offered to work at it for a, day himself if a member of the Corporation would do the same. Cr Cartledge has accepted, and tlie pair, armed with spades, became navvies for a few days.
