OVERWORKED CLERKS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Now that the full report of Friday’s inquest has been published, 1 suppose that “ Unionist ” feels that he has been precipitate., “ Unionist ” has evidently read nis Friday’s ‘Star’ containing the report of only half of the inquest, and has immediately written to you without waiting for the appearance of the full report, and of what the other parties had to say in the matter. As to clerks forming unions on similar lines to those of the existing employees’ and laborers’ unions, well, a union may to a certain extent be a wise measure, but I think that clerks as a whole have more backbone than men—such as “ Unionist ” evidently is a fair sample of—who, instead of bettering themselves through education and attention to work, have to be suckled by means of parliamentary legislation.—l am, etc., Clerk.. March 19.
