EGG-LAYING COMPETITION
A Blenheim message states that the total for< the forty-sixth week of the New Zealand Egg-laying Comp-.tition is 1,406, making the grand aggregate 81,743 and the weekly average per pen 14.26. The highest layings for the week were:—Snodtr>-uss (black Orpingtons), Masterton, 26; ~Mia Griffiths (silver Wyandottes), Blenheim, 26 ; Alexandra Poultry Company (white Ply mouth Rock;?), 25; Miss Murphy (rosfcomb black Oipingtons), Blenheim, 24; (hick Friddlos (white Leghorns), Blenheim, 24; Jonathan Hudson (white Leghorns). Blenheim, 21. The order of rne-.it in the grand aggregate ran as follows, the first five pens being white Leghorns:—H. Leger, Levin,. 1,297; Marlborough A and P. Association, 1,144; South Australia, 1,142; Jonathan Hodson, Blenheim, 1,141; Miss Mick Shaw, Blenheim, 1,128: Hockey (brown Leghorns), Nelson, 1,097. The main feature of the week is that the A. and P. Association's pen has passed Brooke's, and gained eecond place.
