CRICKET.

OTAGO v. MELBOURNE CLUB TEAM. To-day was spent by the visitors in liaving a look' round town. To-morrow forenoon, by the kind consent of Messrs Ross and Glendinirtg. they will be shown over the Roslyn Mills, and at 2 p.m. play in the above match will commence at Carisbrook. Given fine weather, a real good game should eventuate. The wicket, which lias been covered, should be in first-class order. The Association have secured the loan of forms, which they are placing round the ground for the convenience of the public, and no doubt but that they will be greatly appreciated by the spectators. Cricket eaitlrasdasts should not miss this chance of seeing Mr W. Armstrong, one of the greatest all-round cricketers in the world at the present time; and V. Ransford is another coming player worth seeing,- while the doings of C. M'Leod, A. A. Aitken, F. Vaughan, D. Mailer, and the other mombersof the team during the present tour prove that tjjfiy are ail able exponents of the game. 'To* bring these teams to our shores costs a considerable sum of money, but this ie the only means of improving our cricket, as it *is only by our players meeting first-class cricketers that they can hope to roach their standard, and it is hoped that the public will turn out nn large numbers, and thus assist the Association in their efforts, to improve cricket in Dunedin, Special cars will run to the ground, and to avoid a.rush at the ticket boxes, tickets can be obtained in town from all the leading tobacconists.
