DRAINAGE BOARD

Tha usual fortnightly". meeting of the Dunedin Sewerage and Drainage Board w*s held last night; present—Mr W. Burnett (chairman), Mr J. 'Arkle, Mr J. H. Hancock, Mr .T. Small, Mr T, R. Christie, and Dr Fulton. Messrs Gore, Marlow, and Scott sent apologies. The Roslyn Borough Council wrote asking when the Board would receive a deputation with reference to rating on properties not yot present served by drains. —Resolved to receivo the deputation at the next meeting of the Board. „ The Phairnwi reported that Mr Small and himself had, as instructed, interviewed Mes-ra Mondv, Sim, and Stephens with regard to the claims in respect to the flood of the 2nd September, btit in the absence of the engineer they could not do anything. Mr Anderson was expected back in about a week. , Mr Small moved the adoption of the Works Committee's report, which stated tliat the engineer reported better progress with the main intercepting sewer, and that accounts amounting to £1,890 ISs 2d had been examined and passed for payment.— Mr Hancock drew attention to the small amount of information supplied by the report to the Board and the public.—The Chairman said he must refer Mr Hancock to the chairman of the Works Committee. Mr Small said his answer was that the abstraot of tho expenditure and the work for the fortnight attached to the" report gave all the information at hia eommftnd. —The Chairman : I think we should thank Mr Small for those reports that he prepares. They arc wonderfully clear, and show great industry and knowledge of tho business.—The report w-.« adopted. The Finance Committee reported that at a meeting held on the 22nd September the following business was transacted: —Accounts amounting to £1,890 15s 2d, examined and passed by the Works Committee on 20th September, wer© passed for payment and cheques signed. Accounts amounting to £147 18s Id were oxamined and passod for payment, and cheques signed. The sum of £2,735 17s 2d had been paid into the bank since the last meeting of the Committee. The bank pass books were laid on the table, showing: Aggregate fund, dr, £4,356 4s lid; trust account, cr, £135 10s.—The report was adopted. The Board then went into committee.
