BRUCE HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

'['be lifth annual meeting of the above society was held in the Bruce County Chambers, Milton, last night, the president (Mr D. Heid) occupying the chair. The Committee submitted the following report :—" Your Committee beg to submit their fifth annua! report and balance-sheet for the year ended March 31, 1905, and to congratulate the members on the suoooss of the February anew. Tbo new departure of holding the show on Baturduy instead of on Wednesday, a* formerly, did net prove a success, and wo advise the society to go buck to the old day of the week. There was a alight increase in the number of entries, the total being 350, as against 300 the previous year. The Committee are indebted to those growers who entered their plants and flowers for exhibition only. Most of these exhibits made very fine displays, and were a feature of the snow. Messrs Nimmo and Blair, Hnv/len and Moncrieff, and H. M- West are also deserving of our thanks for their -excellent contributions. The thanks ci the Committee are also due to Mr H. M. Wast for judging the exhibits, to Miss KuLmcnd and Mr A. Nelson for judging the fl .«er and cottage gardens, and to Miss M'Millau and Dr Sutherland for judging the decorated exhibits. The Committee uleo gratefully acknowledge the special jr.yen presented by Mesdames Yorstou .'..id J. S. Martin, and Messrs J. Reid, H. M. West, W. Moore, James Gray and Sons, S. Cousins, Yates and Co., Howden and Moncrieff, Nimmo and Blair, the Rev. J. O'Neill, and Dr Sutherland. Mrs 1). Reid tos atium successful in winning Mr J. Hislop's prize for the best flower garden, and Mr J. ) avie secured the president's prisse for the btst cottage garden. It is worthy of note Uat Mr J. H. Tlie lady members of the Committee held a spring show in Octobsr last, which was, in ail respects most successful arid enjoyable.
