SALE OF WORK

The annual sale of work arranged by the Otago Ladies' Auxiliary Methodist Foreign Mission was opened at Trinity Church Schoolroom this afternoon by the Rev. T. G. Brooke. This society has one lady (Mies May Jouness, of Lower Hutt, Wellington) nlrfady in the mission field ;vt Dobu, New Guinea, and it ii to maintain her tieru, and, if possible, to txtend the scope of the mission, that this annual sale ia held. So far tbe mission, which is composed of ladies from all the Methodist Churches in and around Dunedjn, has been in existence for throe -veais. The "sale has been wall arranged, and tie general appearance of tbe schoolroom is verv talcing. The decoration of the too rcom, which has been carried out by Miss Haynes, is especially dainty and pleasing. Tbe Rev. C. H. Laws, B.A-, presided. Tho Rev. T. G. Brooke, in formally opening the sale, gave an address, in which be explained the objects and scope of the mission, and mentioned the fact that as a new Canadian sugar company is starting operationa in Fiji and will be importing a large number of Hindoo laborers, there will be need for redoubled energy on the part of the mission, which has to do solely with work in the South Sea Islands. This evening the sale will remain open, and mnsio will be supplied by Mr Do Lautoura orchestral. Following is a list of stallholders: Work Stall—Ladies from tie various churches.
