SPECIAL MKETETG. A .special meeting of the City Cotmcu wps held at 5 p-m, yerterday to deal with the business held over from last meeting. His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. Braithwaite) was in the chair, and there were also present. Cre Gore, Arklo, Loudon, Connor, WHson Rutherford, Cole, Shacklock, Walker, Har-r-son. Fi?dis, Small, Burnett, Scott, Bnneley, and Dr Ril'-y. Tii3 Mayor expl.-uned that he had thought it necessary to call th:- meetmp because Mr Goodman and Mr Williams both taid that it was ;ia>sorutely neces«-vrv to settle the ■Uider") for supplies for the Warpari as soon as possible. Tt was decided to suspend the standing orders- to put the meetina; in proper form. Th? tenders for the supply of pipes, irregulars, and valves for the Waipori Falls hydro-electric power system were referred to the Tramways Committee to accept the lowest or most eligible tender. It was pointed out that there seemed to be a difference of opinion amongst the tenderers as to what thev wwre tendering for. The Pelton Water Wheel Company tendered £4,550, the next highest tender being £B7O, Five tenders were received in all. Mr John M. Lomas's tender (£l2 7s 6d) for a twenty-one years' building lease of • allotment 5, subdivision of sections 3 and 4, block 6, town, district, Cartsbrook, was accepted. There was one other tender. Messrs C. and W. Gore's tender (£S2) f.-r 'he purchase and removal of the old trim stab'es in David street, Caversham, v.-.-is f ro-pted. This was the highest of four I!
