DUNEDIN PRESBYTERY

The ordinary meeting of the Dunedin Presbytery was held this morning, the Moderator (the Rev. Mr Kinmout) presiding.

Dr lags was welcomed by tho Presbytery. The Rev. Mr Chishobn explained, that Dr Ings bad recently arrived from tie Old Country. He was the ehirrch's first medical mfssionarv for the Canton villages. The Clerk said that he had noticed that tho Rev. William Campbell, formerly minister of South Dunedin, had died.—lt was agreed that a committee be appointed to draw up a memorial minute. The Rev. Br Nisbet said that the Committee appointed had considered tho question of a proposed High School for girls. They had discussed the possibility of financing the school, and' generally had made satisfactory progress. They did not at present deem it advisable to. make any public report. The Rev. Mr Chisholm said that he had nothing definite to report on suburban church extension. The Committee appointed to go into the matter waited upon the South Bunedin Session, who showed that they were in favor of church extension in some form or other in St. Kilda. The difficulty was the precise form it should take. The South Dunedin Session had promised to take the matter into their serious consideration, and to Jet tihe Committee know what they intended to do. Tho KOTtfa-eastVaiTey Session were on the alert; they had in view a hall, in which they expected to start a Sunday school.—The Rev. Mr KSpatrick moved—"That the Committee appointed for chuii.li extension purposes be thanked and discharged, and that three rommittces be appointed—Northern, -Central, and Northern—to_ gather information and report to a special meeting of the Presbytery." Be said that they could ask representatives of the congregations to attend that meeting and give the Presbytery information on the point.— Jtr Pryor moved as an amendment—" That the Committee be continued, and be asked to have meetings with representatives from the different sessions." They could then have a meeting of the Presbytery, at which the Committee could present their reportRepresentatives of the congregations could also bo present at that meeting.—-The amendment was lost and the motion carried. The next business was the nomination of Moderator of the General Assembly for 1906. The Ber. Mr Will said thai with ime exception all the Moderators had been appointed from, the 'South Island.
