ROSLYN WATER SUPPLY.

TO THE BDXXOS. STj —Mr A. Washer's letter on this subject m your issue <tl Saturday is not very clear. As I understand 3>, I judge he nmst be a vary gudelesa soul not to see thai be has .."given the show away" on himself and his councillors by telling ns that the City Fathers did not prase the Boslyn Council with the alternative scheme, bat first with the scheme Which that Council have adopted. That scheme trill, of course, pay the City best. It Will be all found money—no expense, no trouble, simply receive Roslyn's money for water which must otherwise nm to waste. Mr Washer is right—"tile City Fathers are business men enough to know a good thine when they see it." But what about the business acumen of Mr Washer and las councillors in preparing a scheme that give the borough over whose affairs they preside (1) a debt of £12,000 Or more, (2) the joy of paying £1,550 a year water rates, (3) the glory of having a Water scheme all their own, and (4) scarcely Water enough to bathe tfte councillors' babies, to another scheme which trill secure to the borough an unlimited supply of water, with no debt and no trouble, for the came annual payment of £1.580? What BoSiyft wants for its money is plenty of wafer. Mr Washer will, I believe, do the borough good service by taking the ratepayers more into his confidence, and giving them fuller information about the question than he appears disposed to do.— I am, etc-, NIMO. | September 11.

TO THIS KDITOK. Sir, —I was surprised to read in your Saturday's issue a fetter from the Mayor of Boslyn, in which he stated thalt the Council had only one scheme before them for a water supply. In proof that, there are two schemes, both of which have been submitted, I ask you to pnblish the accompanying letter, which was brought before the Council in April las*.—l am, etc, J. rTuNTJJB. September 11.
