[SrECIAL TO THE STAR.] CHRISTCHURCH, June 6. The establishment of the electric tramways in Christcliurch ha? had an effect on the telephone system in that city, and subscribers complain of the humniiug noise which is cow heard, and is atir.butab.e to the operation of the new tramways. Arrangements have been made for changing the telephone system, however, and the incioducuon of the metallic circuit system will completely prevent the inoonvfn:en<"experienced at present A long time will be occupied in making the change, but the work will be commenced very soon. Some
of the "material to be used is on the Karamea, which will arrive in Lytteltoir in about a week.
