THE DOMAIN BOARD

The ordinary meeting of the above Board was held last evening, and was attended byMessrs J. H. Hancock (chairman), 6. Lawrence, J. Braithwaite, and G. Hodges. Mr H. Vi Fulton, secretary of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Association, wrote stating that it was the intention of his Committee to continue planting on the Sandhills i in Tahuna Park under the direction and 1 with the assistance of Mr A. Bathgate, of ! the Reserves Conservation Society. Re pointed out that this year the society had planted a large number of lupins, and intended to continue the planting of marram, grass.—Several members commented on the society’s want of energy in planting on the reserve within their enclosure, when the area was granted to them on the distinct understanding that they would plant the hills.— It was resolved—“ The Board regret to find that no serious attempt has been made by the Agricultural Society to plant the area at the hack of their property, and that unless the society carry out their agreement in this respect the Board will be compelled to resume operations.” The Works Committee reported that all the works under the Board’s control were in a satisfactory condition, and that a very large quantity of sand had ’ been deposited on the beach at St. Clair during the pastfew weeks. The baths and bath premises

i 'were in fair order, and the marram grass ' which had been planted during the winter season had nearly Ull taken root, and the bulk of it was making rapid growth. The lupins were now in full bloom, and were worthy of a visit from all lovers of flower life. The Committee recommended that the fence on the face of the Sandhills at St. Clair be extended for about ten chains eastward to prevent the destruction of the hills from traffic.—The report adopted.
