As a result of the death of Mrs Thomas Head, of Wanganui, the following bequest l ? made in the will of the late Thomas Head become payable to the resp ctive institutions: Wangamii Hospital, £5,000; Wanganui Orphanage, £I,OOO ; Old Men's Home, £500; St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, £400; Wannanui Library, £2OO. Under the will of Mrs Read the Wanganui Presbyterian Church and Orphanage are also residuary legatees. The Hon. C. Hill Trevor is a passenger by the Rnapehu, which left Wellington for London to-dav.

The Premier returned to Wellington yesterday from the Wairarapa district. Mr A. W. Hogg, member for Masterton, was presented by his constituents yesterday with a purse of sovereigns. He leaves ly the Moeraki on a holiday to Australia. Mr A. B. Williams was yesterday elected unopposed as Mayor of Onslow (Wellington).

Mr Lilly has been acting as deputy-organist at St "Saviour's Orphanage.

The Hon. George M'Lean left for Sydney by the Moeraki to-day. An Auckland telegram reports? the death of Mother Paul, aged seventy-five years. She was lart year reverend mother of vhe Catholic Order of Sisters of Mercy at Auckland.
