THREE YEARS' GROWTH. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. NEW YORK, April 8. The census returns for 1903 show that, excluding Alaska and the annexed islands, the population is 79.900,000, an increase of 3.600.000 since 1900. New York City has a population of 3.716,000, and Chicago 1.874.000. [The population of the United States m 1900 was 76,303,387. The regular census has hitherto been taken even- ten years. There is no national system of registration of births, deaths, and marriages.]
