KAIKORAI BAND.

The monthly meeting of the above band was held on Thursday evening, when there were present Mr G. B. Laicflaw (conductor) and twenty-three members. The secretary reported that Mr T. Gaunt (of the Palace Fir works Company) had atrreed, providing the permission of the City Council could be obtained, to "ive a display in the Botanical Gardens in order to assist the band in raising funds to enable them to take part in the intercolonial brass band contest to be held at Invertargill. Mr G. B. Laidlaw (conductor) informed those present that he purposed starting a harmony class early in Mav free of charge, for the members of the bind. Mr James Peterson, who has just retired from the position of secretary, was the recipient of a chequ- from the members of the band in recognition of his past services.
