Mr Peter Barr, in his final report on the Matheson, Prain, and Co. estate, states inter alia that the claims received from creditors and admitted amounted in all to £6,825 lis sd, of which £1,557 2s 3d was' treated as preference, to be paid in full. On the balance, tho ordinary creditors have received two dividends—one of 7s 6d ;■ : one of ss—and the final dividend of 3s 5d is now paid, making 15s 9d in the £ in aIL This result is decidedly better than there was reason to anticipate two years ago. The shareholders in the company receive nothing, as was expected almost from the beginning. During the "week ended March 19, 8,997 packages of fruit were sold in Wellington auction marts, 4,690 packages being from the North Island, 4.020 from the South Island, and 287 from Australia. The quuntity for the week previous was 15,145 packages. Femdale Park, at Ratanui. the residence of the late Mr W. Carlton, has been sold at* a satisfactory figure to Mr J. White, of Ratanui.
