The Arbitration proceedings between the Tramway Board and the Christchurch Tramway Company commenced this morning, but they are not open to the Press. ° There was a long and somewhat heated discussion at the Presbyterian Synod this morning over the Eev. In their expressed opinion tne Synod were divided as to whether or not the Assembly should be asked by overture to terminate the present movement and proceed on the lines suggested by Synod in 1902 or otherwise, as the Assembly might see lit. Eventually Mr Fraser withdrew his motion in deference to the view that it v/onld be unwise to send up an overture to the Assembly. He said he was satisfied now that the matter hail been freely discussed.

Miss Peters, Indian missionary, will address a united meeting of the Baptist churches of the City and suburbs at the Hanover street Church to-morrow night, at 7.30. The Rev. William Hay, pastor, will occupy the chair. This afternoon Miss Peters addressed the Women's Prayer Union at Hanover street, Mrs Driver presiding. Yesterday, after an address by Miss Peters, a branch of the Union was formed at Maori Hill. Miss Peters leaves on Saturday for Camara, and proceeds thence to Wellington and Auckland. She hopes to resume her missionary life and work in India by the end if the year.
