A few weeks ago (says Trath') the Halifax Chamber of Commerce sent a letter to Lord J.ansdowne. The reply was directed to Halifax, Nova Scotia, that being seemingly the only Halifax known to the staff at the Foreign Office. Another revelation of their nescience is the fact that the reply bore a postage stamp, though penny postage to Nova Scotia has been in operation for a long time now.
